Hair comes in different textures, lengths, colors, and types. No matter what hair type you have, you must have encountered one or the other common hair problems. From oily scalp to hair loss, there are many common hair problems that we as humans face and are always on the lookout to find a solution to that.

Your hair is sensitive to the environment nearby. Too much sun exposure, dust, dirt, and other elements strip your hair of its natural luster and beauty. Think of the countless times you used the blow dryer or the heating iron to straighten up your locks. Think of the shampoos you have been using, and not forget the hair sprays or chemical serums. Too many styling products and shampoos cause damage to your hair, and you end up showing one or more common hair problems.

Some common hair problems include dandruff, hair fall, oily scalp, head itchy hair falling out, or head lice. You must identify these hair problems and treat them effectively.

Your ultimate goal to have beautiful and healthy hair need not be a myth. Once you identify your hair problem and the causes behind them, you can devise solutions that would work. In this blog, we shall find the hair problem causes and find remedies to avoid these problems.

Hair Problem causes

Every individual is unique, and they may have different hair problems. Here are 8 common hair disorders and their causes-

1. Dandruff

It is one of the most common hair problems that doesn't need any special introduction. It appears when the skin on the scalp strips off and flakes.

Most of us may consider dandruff due to poor hygiene, but in reality, it is caused by excess sebum, dry scalp, and sensitivity to certain hair care products.

2. Hair Loss

Now we all lose some strands every day while brushing our hair. That can be about 50-100 stands, which is pretty normal. But if you experience noticeable hair loss every time you comb or brush your hair, you are experiencing hair loss. You may also experience extremely dry skin hair falling out. Some also suffer from PCOS hair loss, which is often referred to as hair loss due to hormonal imbalance can be the reason behind your hair fall. Other factors include stress, using wrong products, or vitamin D deficiency hair loss.

3. Oily Scalp

Do you feel your scalp oily and hair greasy, even after shampooing? If yes, you have an oily scalp. One common reason for oily scalp and greasy hair is that your scalp produces excessive sebum or natural oil. It may also lead to hair fall and oily dandruff.

One of the reasons can be overuse of conditioner on your hair, irregular shampooing, or genetics.

4. Dry Hair

If your hair lacks natural oil and moisture, it is considered dry. You can also recognize it by split ends, tangled hair, dry flakes, or hair fall.

One of the common reasons behind these common hair problems is over-exposure to heat, nutritional deficiency, excessive hair wash, or lack of blood circulation.

5. Head Lice

Head lice are tiny irritating insects that feed on blood from the human scalp. Head lice are disgusting and cause embarrassment.

It usually occurs when a non-infected person comes in close contact with an infected person, using the same comb, hairbrushes, towel, or personal items.

6. Split Ends

When your hair shaft divides at the end, it is called split ends.

It causes when your hair becomes too dry and brittle. Other causes are heat styling, rough brushing, dry hair, or hair coloring.

7. Premature Greying

It is again one of the common hair problems most of us face, where your hair turns out grey before age.

Stress can do a lot of harm, including premature greying of hair. It also disturbs the production of melanocytes - it is a cell in the eyes and skin that contains melanin. Other causes of premature grey hair are genetics, smoking, and less melanin production by the body.

8. Frizzy Hair

Unruly or uneven hair curls and stands up individually, creating frizz.

Damaged hair is one of the causes of frizzy hair. Besides, excessive humidity can also trigger frizzy hair. And your genes play a vital role in determining the texture of your hair.

How to treat hair problems

Here are some effective and practical ways to treat common hair problems-

  • Eat healthy. Avoid eating processed and oily food.
  • Shampoo regularly, twice, or thrice every week with a herbal shampoo.
  • Oil massage your hair. Remember, dry scalp causes hair fall and oil helps moisturize your hair and boost blood circulation.
  • Be gentle with your hair. Comb gently and cover your head from direct sun
  • Get your hair trimmed regularly and sleep on a satin pillow.
  • Wear a bun or braid. It is one of the basic hairstyles and doesn't harm your hair.
