Amla or Amalaki is scientifically known as Emblica Officinalis or Phyllanthus Emblica. It is commonly also known as the Indian Gooseberry, amla, amalaki. You are likely to find this in most Indian households during the winter. It is a part of Triphala, the famed ayurvedic rasayana which works as a health booster for your immunity, metabolism, and digestion. Not just that, but amla is also one of the key ingredients of Chyawanprash, your secret immunity and health booster.
According to ayurveda, pitta dosha is one of three doshas or energies that govern internal health and bodily functions. Pitta dosha consists of the elements of fire and water. An excess of this dosha causes too much heat in your body, which can lead to several health conditions and hair loss.
Amalaki is used in Tatva Hair ras and Scalp Oil. It aids in pacifying the heat caused by pitta dosha. Basically, an internal cooler. And it also helps flush out toxins. We realize at this point you probably have a lot of questions, so let’s begin!
Symptoms of Pitta Dosha
Ayurveda, an ancient Indian system of medicine, pitta is one of the three doshas or body types, and is associated with fire and water elements. When pitta is in balance, it is believed to promote good digestion, healthy metabolism, and a sharp intellect. However, when pitta is out of balance, it can lead to a range of physical and emotional symptoms. Here are some common symptoms of pitta dosha imbalance:
Digestive issues: Pitta imbalance can lead to symptoms such as heartburn, acid reflux, diarrhea, and inflammation in the digestive tract.
Skin problems: Excessive pitta can cause skin problems such as rashes, acne, and redness, as well as premature aging.
Irritability: Pitta imbalance can cause irritability, anger, impatience, and a tendency to criticize or judge others.
Excessive sweating: Pitta imbalance can cause excessive sweating, especially in hot or humid weather.
Inflammation: Pitta imbalance can lead to inflammation in various parts of the body, including joints, muscles, and organs.
Fatigue: When pitta is out of balance, it can lead to feelings of exhaustion and burnout.
Poor vision: Pitta imbalance can cause vision problems such as sensitivity to light, blurry vision, and eye inflammation.
Menstrual issues: Women with pitta imbalance may experience heavy, painful periods or irregular menstrual cycles.
How Does Pitta Dosha Affect Hair Fall?
The pitta dosha is responsible for regulating metabolic activity in the hair and body. When pitta is elevated it can lead to excessive sweating, indigestion, and excessive body heat. And all these factors affect your hair health by leading to premature hair thinning, greying and even balding in the body. Pitta imbalances are typically linked to inflammation in the body and hair shaft and root, which also aggravates thinning.
As per Ayurveda, your pitta gets elevated when you indulge in excessive amounts of spicy foods, oily, fried, greasy, sour and salty food, coffee, tea meats, alcohol, and smoking.
According to Ayurveda, balancing your pitta dosha will help as a hair loss prevention, boost hair growth and improve hair quality. And the one super ingredient that Ayurveda uses to balance your pitta is - Amalaki.
