The Sanskrit scriptures have classified the Bhringraj Plant into three different types depending upon the color of the flower the Bhringraj Plant bears. The types of Bhringraj Plant mentioned in the Sanskrit scriptures include:

  • White Bhringraj Plant is termed as ‘Shweta Bhringraj' – this plant bears a white flower.
  • Yellow Bhringraj Plant is termed as ‘Peet Bhringraj' – this plant bears a yellow flower.
  • Blue Bhringraj Plant is termed as 'Neel Bhringraj' – this plant bears a blue flower.

  1. Gather the ingredients – the first step is to bring all the ingredients required to make Bhringraj oil at home. You are required to extract the juices of some of the herbs. While other herbs need to be blended to form a smooth paste. 

HERBS FOR JUICES

  • Extract the juices of the Bhringraj plant – 2.56 liter
  • Extract the juice of Amla (gooseberries) – 0.5 liter
  • Extract juice of Brahmi Plant – 0.5 liter

HERB FOR PASTE

  • Hari Taki plant – 10 gm
  • Bibi Taki plant – 10 gm
  • Gooseberries or Amla – 10 gm
  • Manjistha plant – 10 gm
  • Babchi plant – 10 gm
  • Chandan or Sandalwood – 10 gm
  • Mehendi plant – 10 gm
  • Mandur – 10 gm
  • Kuth – 10 gm
  • Yasthimadhu – 10 gm
  • Priyangu – 10 gm
  • Jatamasi – 10 gm
  • Kachur – 10 gm
  • Nagarmotha – 10 gm
  • Padmaks – 10 gm 

HERB FOR BASE OIL

Sesame Oil (Oil extracted from til) – 1.3 liters

  1. Mix the juices of the three herbs in the mentioned amount and set aside.
  2. Roast the sesame seeds and extract the oil. Heat the oil and let it cool down. St the oil aside in a separate container. 
  3. Blend the rest of the herbs into a smooth paste. Mix the herbs and set them aside in another container. 
  4. Mix the paste with the milk of the cow. Make sure you boil the milk and cool it down before mixing it with the paste. The consistency of the mixed mixture should be runny enough that you can stir it into a glass.
  5. Take a mixing bowl and mix the oil, juice, and paste mixture. Mix it with a wooden spoon until everything is evenly blended.
  6. Take a pan and heat the mixture on a low flame. Keep on stirring the mixture with the spoon for 1 to 2 hours. 
  7. Turn down the flame when only the oil remains in the pan. 
  8. Let it cool down and store in a glass container. Keep it in a cool and dry place. 

A Quick Tip: Apply this oil to your scalp, forehead, or any affected area. Remember this oil is not edible.

How to consume Bhringraj Orally?

  1. Take a bowl and coat its base with ghee made from cow’s milk. 
  2. Add harakiri churna and jaggery and double coat it. 
  3. Add Bhringraj powder along with haritaki, pippali, jatiphal, and lavanga powder. Each 1 tablespoon.
  4. Add cardamom, cinnamon, and clove for flavor. (1 teaspoon each – powder form)
  5. Add gur for enhancing the sweetness and mix all the herbs.
  6. Add 1-liter Bhringraj Juice in it. 
  7. Close the lid and let it ferment for 15 days. 

A quick tip: Consume a tablespoon of the fermentation twice a day after your meals. 

Bhringraj Plant for Hair

Bhringraj Plant can be a great alternative to chemically infused products, particularly for hair. This medicinal herb is rich in antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins. These elements are proved to be responsible for lustrous and voluminous hair. 

Bhringraj Plant enhances hair growth 

Bhringraj plant has an adequate amount of nutrients that when applied to the scalp can activate the hair follicles and result in hair growth.
