When Dandruff Becomes More Than “Just Dandruff”
“Itna dandruff hai na, chipak jata hai scalp pe.” That was how Asha, a 29‑year‑old from Nagpur, first described her problem to the Traya coach. She wasn’t even on the call herself; her relative had dialed in “Priyanka Chauhan ke behalf” to make sure they didn’t mess up the new kit that had just arrived.
The immediate question was simple and practical: “Vo kaisa lagane ka, uska menu ek baar bhej do?” They weren’t looking for a miracle speech. They wanted clear, simple instructions that would finally help with the heavy dandruff that had been clinging to her scalp for almost two years, along with slowly increasing hair fall.
What started as the usual flakes on the shoulders had become sticky, stubborn build‑up. Now, the main wish was almost modest: “Dandruff chala jana chahiye… shining, volume, regrowth bhi.”
Understanding Her Real Root Cause
On the call, the coach took time to go beyond “bas shampoo bata do.” She walked through Asha’s history: two years of hair fall, no earlier treatments, no major medical history, no ongoing medicines, no sinus, asthma, cholesterol, or fatty liver issues. There was a past migraine phase, but no current medication.
The only thing that stood out was the scalp itself. Asha had mentioned “heavy dandruff” that felt sticky on the scalp. It wasn’t just winter dryness. It was the kind of build‑up that stays attached to the scalp and leaves it dry and itchy underneath. The coach explained that this kind of dandruff is usually driven by fungal overgrowth and excess oil mixed with product residue. When the flakes stick, they form a film over the scalp. This traps sweat and sebum, irritates the skin, and weakens hair follicles sitting underneath. Constant itching and inflammation then show up as hair fall, thinning, and a dull, rough texture.
To make it clear, the coach kept her explanation simple: the first goal wasn’t fancy regrowth. It was to get rid of the heavy dandruff layer so the scalp could finally breathe.
Can dandruff and dry scalp hair loss really be connected?
The coach answered this directly. Yes, she said, stubborn dandruff and dry scalp hair loss are often linked. When fungus and flakes sit tight on the scalp, they cause micro‑inflammation and itching. Every time you scratch, you’re tugging at already‑irritated follicles. Over time this speeds up hair shedding and makes new hair come out thinner and weaker, even if your internal health is fine.
The Doubts, Asked in Simple Words
Because Asha wasn’t talking to a dermatologist in a clinic, her family asked questions in the most natural way:
“Ye ketoconazole night lotion kaise, kya hota hai?”
“Ye oil shot dono ko lagana hai kya?”
“Hafte mein kitni baar lagana hai, rat ko ya din mein?”
There was also curiosity about hair growth: would she get regrowth or only dandruff control? Could something replace minoxidil? The coach was honest about the limits. Because of her migraine history, they weren’t recommending topical minoxidil for now. Instead, she explained that once dandruff came under control, Traya’s Recap Serum (hair active serum) could be added later to work on hair fall reduction, volume, density, and thickness.
That clarity helped set expectations: first clean the ground, then plant stronger roots.
How the Traya Coach Broke Down Her Plan
The turning point in this conversation wasn’t a dramatic promise. It was how the coach took a complicated routine and turned it into simple, repeatable steps.
For the scalp and dandruff, she focused on three core topicals from Asha’s kit.
Ketoconazole 2% Anti‑dandruff Night Lotion: To be applied three nights a week on the entire scalp, left overnight, and washed off the next morning. From the Product Bible, we know this lotion uses ketoconazole to kill Malassezia fungus, reduce inflammation, and regulate sebum so the scalp stops being a friendly home for flakes.
Defence Shampoo: To be used two to three times a week to cleanse the scalp after the night lotion. It’s a mild, sulphate‑ and paraben‑free shampoo with Vitamin B3 and AnaGain that removes build‑up without stripping natural oils, maintaining scalp health as dandruff reduces.
Defence Conditioner: Asha’s family was unsure: “Ye conditioner se kya hota hai?” The coach clarified that it’s not for the scalp at all, only for hair length. With biotin, niacinamide and conditioning agents, it softens rough, dry strands that often result from medicated shampoos and hard water. It doesn’t grow hair, but it makes existing hair smoother, less prone to breakage, and easier to manage.
To tackle the deeply stuck flakes and soothe the scalp, the coach also highlighted the role of oil.
Scalp Oil with Dandruff Therapy shot: The dandruff oil shot is mixed completely into the Scalp Oil bottle. This blend is then applied twice a week, about 30 minutes before shampooing. The Ayurvedic Scalp Oil from Traya is made via sneha‑pak with herbs like amla, bhringraj, brahmi and goat milk to nourish follicles and improve blood circulation. The Dandruff Therapy booster shot adds essential oils like camphor, castor and bergamot from the Bible, which help with heavy dandruff, itching and scalp hygiene. Together, they help loosen stubborn build‑up and calm irritation, without interfering with minoxidil (which she isn’t using yet).
Working From the Inside: Supplements for Support
The second pillar of Asha’s plan was internal support. Her coach knew that stubborn dandruff, stress and lifestyle gaps can all affect nutrient absorption and, over time, hair quality. The kit therefore included:
Hair Vitamin: One tablet every morning after breakfast. According to the Product Bible, this multivitamin contains biotin, vitamins A, C, D, E, B9, B12, minerals like zinc and iron, and natural DHT blockers like pumpkin seed extract, green tea extract and bhringraj. For someone who may not have textbook anaemia but still has dietary gaps, this supports root health, scalp nourishment and iron deficiency hair fall recovery before it becomes advanced hair fall due to anemia.
Hair Santulan 3: Two tablets after dinner at night. This Ayurvedic metabolic booster is designed specifically for women with hair fall plus stress, metabolism issues and bloating, and it features herbs like bhringaraj, amalaki, guduchi and digestive supports. As the Bible explains, Hair Santulan 3 helps by reducing stress, improving digestion and easing bloating, strengthening hair roots from within and supporting the digestion and hair fall connection that many people never consider.
The coach didn’t dump this all at once. She repeated each instruction in simple Hindi, checked that it was “clear ho gaya,” and then explained how to track usage on the Traya app so Asha could build consistency.
The Roadmap: What She Can Expect, and When
Perhaps the most reassuring part for the family was hearing a realistic timeline instead of overnight promises.
The coach broke it down like this. In the first 2–3 months, the focus is on internal health and dandruff reduction. This is the phase when the heavy, sticky flakes start loosening, the scalp feels less itchy, and hair washes feel cleaner for longer. Between months 4 and 6, she should notice hair fall starting to reduce as inflammation calms and follicles get a healthier environment and better nutrition. From month 8 onwards, changes in volume, density and thickness become more visible. This is also when a growth serum like Recap can be safely introduced once the scalp is stable.
The plan isn’t just products. The coach also nudged her to open the Ayurvedic diet plan on the app, answer a few questions, and follow a seven‑day rotation diet designed for her goals. The app then generates a report showing what to improve or reduce, turning her routine into something measurable, not guesswork.
How Her Journey Feels Different Now
By the end of the call, the questions that started with “kaise lagana hai?” had turned into confidence: “Bilkul karungi.” A follow‑up coaching call was booked for a specific date and time to review her progress, adjust as needed, and check if she was able to follow the plan.
What changed wasn’t just that she now had an anti‑dandruff kit. It was that someone had finally connected the dots between her sticky dandruff, hair fall, internal health and everyday routine, then translated it into a simple, personalized hair treatment plan she could realistically follow at home.
