When dandruff stopped being “just dandruff”
“It’s been one year,” she said quietly, “bal jhad rahe hain, side side se thode chale gaye hain. Bas ruk jaaye… wapas aa jaaye.”
We’ll call her Saanvi, a 28‑year‑old from Nagpur. She’d just received her first Traya kit and called in, not to complain, but to understand. The box was in her hands; what she really wanted was a roadmap.
Her first confession came quickly: “Mujhe aaj mera kit receive hua hai. Mujhe bata sakte hain ki main kis tarah se use karun?” She wasn’t looking for a miracle; she wanted someone to walk her through the journey, step by step.
Over the last year, her hair had changed in ways she couldn’t ignore. The overall volume had reduced, there was visible thinning on the sides, and the texture had turned dry and frizzy. On top of that, she had “sticky dandruff” that just wouldn’t go away. She’d tried a pilgrim hair serum for six to seven months, but beyond daily application, there was no larger plan. No one had connected the dots between her scalp, her digestion and her hair fall.
That changed on this call.
Connecting dandruff, gut and hair fall
When our coach gently revisited her hair test, two things stood out. First, she’d mentioned “sticky dandruff condition.” Second, she had regular constipation and stomach discomfort: “Mujhe ek constipation ka issue rehta hai… regular basis pe hota hai.”
The coach explained that before talking about regrowth, the priority had to be her scalp health. Sticky dandruff sits on the scalp like a stubborn layer, trapping oil, sweat and product. That buildup irritates the skin, weakens follicles and leads to dandruff and dry scalp hair loss. Every time she scratched, she was loosening already fragile strands.
Then there was her gut. Constipation and poor gut motility can quietly affect how well the body absorbs nutrients. Even if she ate reasonably well, incomplete evacuation and sluggish digestion meant her follicles might not be getting the building blocks they needed. This is the digestion and hair fall connection most people never hear about: when the gut is slow, hair growth is often slow too.
Her water intake was barely two litres a day, and junk food would slip in. The coach encouraged her to push water up to at least two to two‑and‑a‑half litres, avoid oily and junk food as much as possible, and use simple home ideas like ginger tea and saunf to support digestion, with a plan to add an Ayurvedic gut supplement later if needed.
Can dandruff really cause so much hair fall?
The coach broke it down for her in simple terms. Dandruff by itself doesn’t “cut” hair, but the inflammation it causes on the scalp, the constant itching and the buildup around follicles all interrupt the hair growth cycle. Over time, follicles become weaker and shed hair faster. So if you don’t first control dandruff, any serum or oil you apply is working on an unhealthy base.
Her doubts, asked softly but clearly
Saanvi’s questions weren’t dramatic; they were practical. She wanted to know how long this would go on: “Meri jo treatment hogi, vo kitne mahine ki hogi?” She also needed exact instructions: which product, how often, before or after wash, and for how many months.
She admitted to side thinning but stopped herself from dramatizing it: “Patches patches to nahin bolungi lekin hair side side se chale gaye hain thoda thoda.” That half‑sentence revealed a lot. She was worried, but she also didn’t want to exaggerate or sound panicked. She simply wanted her hair fall to stop and her sides to fill in again.
The coach didn’t promise permanent stoppage of every strand of hair (because normal shedding is part of the hair cycle). Instead, he focused on controlling “excess level pe hair fall” and setting real timelines: one to three months for internal health and scalp work, four to six months for hair fall control and hair health improvement, and seven to eight months for visible density, volume and thickness.
You could sense her relief when she said a simple “Ji” after each clear explanation. For the first time, there was a structure.
How the coach turned a kit into a plan
The products in her box could have just been random bottles and tablets. The coach turned them into a personalized hair treatment plan by mapping each one to a specific role and timeline.
For her sticky dandruff, she would use the Anti‑dandruff Night Lotion three times a week at night, applied across the scalp and left overnight. This Ketoconazole‑based solution from Traya’s Anti‑dandruff range directly targets the Malassezia fungus, reduces itching and inflammation, and clears the buildup so follicles can breathe again.
To cleanse without stripping, she’d use Defence Shampoo two to three times a week. This mild, sulphate‑free cleanser with Vitamin B3 and AnaGain is not sold as a miracle regrowth shampoo; instead, it maintains scalp health so other actives can work better.
Because her hair was already dry and frizzy, the coach paired cleansing with care. Nourish Oil, a blend of cold‑pressed oils and herbs, would go on twice a week at least half an hour before a wash. It would condition her strands and protect them from breakage without being positioned as a regrowth oil.
Post‑wash, she’d apply Shine Leave‑In Serum only on the lengths of damp hair, never on the scalp. This silicone‑based serum would tackle frizz, tangles and surface damage from styling and pollution so her hair looked and felt healthier day to day.
To counter the dryness many people feel with medicated shampoos and treatments, he added Defence Conditioner two times a week after shampoo. With Biotin, Niacinamide, Keraguard and Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, it would soften, detangle and reduce breakage, especially important for someone already dealing with hair fall.
And then there was internal support: Hair Vitamin once a day after breakfast. This multivitamin is designed for those with hair loss and nutrient gaps, combining biotin, vitamins, minerals and natural DHT blockers like pumpkin seed extract and bhringraj. For someone at risk of hair fall due to anemia or other deficiencies, it builds the nutritional base that hair needs.
Finally, hearing about her regular constipation, the coach suggested that if home remedies didn’t help, they would add Gutt Shuddhi later. This purely Ayurvedic tablet supports gut motility, relieves mild constipation and improves the internal environment so nutrient absorption - and by extension, hair growth - can improve.
Living the plan: small daily actions
The coach broke her routine down into simple two‑minute blocks: two minutes in the morning for her supplement, two minutes in the evening or night for her scalp application. He encouraged her to log tablets in the Traya app, track her meals, and mark her “kit started” message on WhatsApp so the team would know when her journey had truly begun.
He set a follow‑up call for about two weeks later, not to judge results, but to track early progress, handle any doubts and adjust if needed. That ongoing supervision is what often turns a one‑month experiment into an eight‑month transformation.
For Saanvi, the immediate outcome was clarity. She knew that the Anti‑dandruff Night Lotion would be temporary - only till her heavy dandruff was under control. She understood Hair Vitamin was a three‑month course. And she knew that oils, shampoo, conditioner and shine serum were her long‑term care companions.
From confusion to quiet confidence
When the call began, she had a kit and questions. By the time it ended, she had something far more powerful: a structured, realistic plan and a coach who understood that hair fall is rarely about just one product.
Her thinning sides and frizzy texture didn’t magically reverse in a day, but she now knew why those problems existed and what each step was doing to help. Over the coming months, as dandruff calms, gut health improves and nutrition gets stronger support, her scalp will be in a far better position for regrowth and thickening.
Her last words that day were simple: “Aj se.” She’d decided to start immediately. And for anyone reading this who sees themselves in her story - the chronic dandruff, the constipation, the year‑long hair fall - sometimes that quiet decision to start, with the right guidance, is where real recovery begins. That’s how iron deficiency hair fall recovery, dandruff control and scalp repair all eventually show up in the mirror as healthier, fuller hair.
