Ritu’s First Traya Call: From Fear to a Routine

Traya Journey at a Glance

  • What bothered her: Oily scalp that seemed to trigger more shedding, plus anxiety about already-thin hair falling further.
  • What seemed to be underneath: A mix of scalp buildup from oiliness, plus the broader digestion-and-hormone factors her coach explained can block nourishment from reaching the roots (the digestion and hair fall connection).
  • What she used: A scalp oil mixed with a dandruff therapy booster shot before washes, Defence Shampoo + Conditioner (only on lengths), and Minoxidil twice a day; supplements were scheduled after meals for better absorption.
  • Timeline she was guided to expect: Around 3 months to see visible reduction in hair fall; first 2 months to prep scalp health, and month 4 onward for early baby-hair regrowth.
  • What changed: She moved from “Will it get worse?” fear to a clear, doable routine with check-ins and a realistic runway for results.

“My hair is already thin… if more falls, I can’t.”

Ritu, a working professional from a busy Indian city, had done what most of us do when something feels off: she read everything first. She had just ordered Traya for the first time and was ready to begin, but one worry kept poking at her.

When her coach explained that Minoxidil can cause extra shedding in the first few weeks, Ritu blurted out what she was really thinking: “My hair is already less… if it falls more, I can’t.”

That one line held everything - fear, fatigue, and the quiet panic of watching your hair become unpredictable.

What Ritu noticed about her scalp (and why it mattered)

Ritu wasn’t washing her hair daily. Her routine was steady: twice a week, Sunday and Wednesday. But the scalp story she described was very specific. For the first day or two, it felt normal to dry. By the third day, it would get “very oily.” And with that oiliness, she felt the shedding would start - almost like her scalp had a pattern.

That detail matters because an overly oily scalp can feel like a constant film sitting at the roots. It can make hair look flatter, feel dirtier faster, and for many people, it becomes a cycle: the scalp feels heavy, you want to touch it more, scratch it more, or oil it more, and suddenly the hair fall feels louder.

Ritu had even been using regular coconut oil before. But this time, she wanted to do it “the right way,” which is why she kept checking: should she follow the supplement timing exactly, and what happens if oil stays on longer than 30 minutes?

What her coach explained about the “why”

On the call, her hair coach (Adiba) validated something most people don’t hear in regular hair advice: hair fall rarely has just one reason. She explained that digestion, metabolism, hormones, and external factors can all play a role in whether nourishment actually reaches the hair roots. If it doesn’t, the roots can weaken and hair starts breaking and shedding more easily.

In simple terms: even when you’re doing “enough,” your body might not be delivering it well.

This is where a personalized hair treatment plan becomes more than a kit. It becomes a map - what to do on wash days, what to do daily, and what to expect emotionally when the process starts.

Q: Can an oily scalp worsen hair fall?

A: It can contribute indirectly. When the scalp gets oily and buildup-prone, it can affect scalp cleanliness and comfort. A cleaner scalp also helps topical treatments spread and absorb more effectively, which is why Ritu’s routine focused so much on wash-day prep and cleansing.

The doubts she asked out loud (and the ones she didn’t)

Ritu’s questions were practical, the kind that come from trying to fit treatment into real life.

She asked if supplement timing must match what’s written, because the label also mentioned “according to doctor consultation.” Her coach reassured her that yes, she should follow the schedule, and she could also use the Traya app’s “How to use kit” section to stay on track.

Then came the oil question: “If by chance it stays longer… are there any consequences?” She explained her reality: sometimes she oils in the morning and washes later, even after the gym - so it can become three to four hours.

The coach told her there’s no such consequence, but to aim for at least 30 minutes before washing.

And then, the biggest vulnerability: the fear of initial shedding with Minoxidil. When the coach said early shedding can happen, Ritu immediately pushed back - because her hair already felt “kam,” less.

The response was calm and grounded: initial shedding can be a sign the serum is working; weaker strands fall so stronger hair can come in their place. Most importantly, she was told not to panic.

The routine that finally felt doable

Instead of overwhelming her, the coach split everything into two simple buckets: hair wash routine and daily regime.

On wash days, Ritu was guided to mix the small dandruff therapy booster shot into the Scalp Oil bottle and apply it 30 minutes before washing. Then she would wash with Defence Shampoo, and use Conditioner only on hair lengths, not on the roots.

That conditioner instruction landed, because Ritu admitted she used conditioner very minimally. The coach explained why: many people apply it on roots by mistake. Keeping it on lengths helps softness without weighing down the scalp.

On daily days, she was told supplements should be taken after meals for better absorption. If a morning dose is missed, she could take it at lunch; if an evening dose is missed, she should restart the next day - without stopping the regime.

And the daily non-negotiable: Minoxidil. One ml in the morning and one ml at night, applied with a dropper on areas with less hair, and gently spread - no vigorous rubbing.

From the Product Bible perspective, Minoxidil works by improving blood flow to hair follicles through a vasodilation effect, helping regrow thicker hair in pattern hair loss. The early shedding she feared is also described as a “healing side effect” because Minoxidil can sync the hair cycle and speed up the shedding phase initially.

Waiting for results without losing hope

Ritu also wanted clarity on the timeline - when would she see anything?

Her coach didn’t promise miracles in two weeks. She gave her a runway.

She explained that results can take around three months to become visible. The first two months are about improving scalp health and clearing out weaker strands. From month three, visible reduction in hair fall can begin. From month four onward, the focus shifts to hair volume, texture, thickness, density, and early regrowth - those baby hairs people secretly check for in harsh bathroom lighting.

That timeline didn’t just set expectations. It gave Ritu something else: permission to be patient without feeling helpless.

Resolution: A calmer start, not a perfect finish

This wasn’t a “before and after” story yet. It was the beginning of one.

By the end of the call, Ritu had already started - she mentioned she’d taken her first after-breakfast dose. She booked a follow-up, asked to add an alternate number so she wouldn’t miss calls during office hours, and left the conversation with something many people don’t get when they buy hair products online: a plan, a pace, and a person to return to.

For someone who began with, “My hair is already less…,” that shift mattered. The goal wasn’t just regrowth. It was feeling steady enough to stay consistent until regrowth had a real chance.
