Neeraj’s 8-Year Thinning Journey to a Routine That Sticks

Traya Journey at a Glance

  • Problem: Hair thinning for years, with weak roots and breakage - hair fall felt “normal,” but density kept dropping.
  • Root causes discussed: Disturbed sleep, nutrition gaps, and a genetic component.
  • What he used: Minoxidil, Defence Shampoo, Scalp Oil mixed with Calm Therapy (booster oil), Nasal Ghrit (nasal drops), Hair Ras, and Hair Vitamins.
  • Timeline he was guided to follow: 5–8 months, with early focus on internal + scalp health, then visible thickening later.
  • Outcome to look for: Better control on thinning, visible “baby hairs” around months 7–8, and hairline maintenance with consistency.

“Hair fall normal hai… but thinning puri ho gayi”

When Neeraj, a merchant navy professional, opened his Traya kit, he wasn’t panicking about handfuls of hair in the shower.

What bothered him was something quieter and more frustrating: “Hair fall zyada nahi hai, lekin thinning bahut zyada ho gayi hai… baalon mein strength bilkul bhi nahi hai.” He could feel it on days he oiled his hair - his roots felt so weak that strands would break and come into his hands.

He’d been dealing with on-and-off hair fall for nearly 7–8 years. It seemed to control itself in between, then return - this time as noticeable thinning. He tried what many people do when they’re hoping for an easy fix: biotin tablets, a few supplements, even ayurvedic and homeopathy options. Nothing really shifted.

So when he finally chose Traya, he came in with two very real questions - both honest, and a little anxious.

One: “Minoxidil ke pehle ketoconazole lotion likha hai… but mujhe mila hi nahi.” Two: “Agar minoxidil work karega, toh mere hair aur shed honge? Dry scalp ho jaega, flakes banenge?”

What his hair test revealed: sleep, nutrition, and genetics

On the call, the hair coach reconfirmed Neeraj’s hair test details and his current pattern. The biggest lifestyle clue was something Neeraj himself agreed with quickly: his sleep was disturbed.

The coach also flagged nutrition and genetics as key drivers in his pattern. When sleep is consistently off, the body doesn’t get that deep repair window it relies on. Over time, it can show up in places you notice first - like hair texture, strength, and density. Add inconsistent nutrition (even without a diagnosed deficiency) and a genetic tendency, and thinning can start feeling like a slow fade rather than a sudden fall.

This is also where a lot of people miss the bigger picture: they chase only one product, when what they really need is a personalized hair treatment plan that’s built around routine, internal support, and scalp consistency.

Q: Does disturbed sleep actually affect hair thinning?

Yes - when sleep is consistently disrupted, the body’s repair processes take a hit. Over time, that can reflect as weaker hair quality, reduced strength, and more visible thinning, especially if nutrition and genetics are also in the mix.

The questions he was almost afraid to ask

Neeraj’s doubts were practical, not dramatic - and that’s what made them so relatable.

He worried about missing a product mentioned on the minoxidil instructions. He worried that “shedding” meant the treatment would make things worse. He even asked whether all this could realistically fit into his routine - because his work involves travel and long stretches at sea. He wanted to know if he could stock up and keep going onboard without interruptions.

And then there was the day-to-day fear hiding behind the “technical” questions: if he started and his hair shed more, would he lose whatever he still had?

The coach didn’t dismiss it. She explained that increased shedding for a few weeks can happen when minoxidil starts syncing the hair cycle - weak strands fall first, so healthier strands can come through. She used an image Neeraj immediately understood: like old leaves falling so new, healthy leaves can grow.

The turning point: making the routine feel doable

Instead of overwhelming him, the coach walked him through the kit like a daily rhythm - short, repeatable, and realistic.

She also gave him a timeline so he wouldn’t judge results week-by-week. Neeraj was told to think in months, not days: a 5–8 month runway.

Months 1–3 would focus on internal health and scalp health. Months 4–6 would focus more on hair fall control. And by months 7–8, he was told to look for changes in the crown area - new baby hairs and better thickness.

For someone who had been stuck in the cycle of “try a supplement, stop, try something else,” this structure mattered. It gave him a way to stay steady.

The Traya kit he was guided to use (and why)

Neeraj’s routine included both topical care and internal nourishment - because thinning isn’t only about what you apply; it’s also about what your system is able to support.

He was guided to use Defence Shampoo twice a week to keep scalp hygiene on track with a mild, scalp-friendly cleanse.

For scalp nourishment, he was told to mix the Calm Therapy booster oil into the Scalp Oil and apply it all over the scalp twice a week, 30 minutes before hair wash. This is rooted in the Ayurvedic idea of shiroabhyanga - oil massage as a way to calm the mind and support circulation to the follicles. The Scalp Oil is designed to deeply nourish the scalp and support follicular health, while the Calm Therapy booster is positioned for people dealing with high stress and sleep concerns.

For regrowth support, he was instructed to apply minoxidil daily: 1 ml in the morning and 1 ml at night, only on visible scalp areas, and to spread gently without massaging.

Because sleep was a key trigger for him, he was also asked to use Nasal Ghrit: three drops in each nostril at night for 21 days. In Ayurvedic logic, “Nasa hi shirso dwaram” - the nasal passage is considered a gateway to the head, and Nasal Ghrit is positioned to support calm, sleep, and stress relief.

On the internal side, Hair Ras was added for daily nourishment and pitta balance, and Hair Vitamins for nutritional support (including natural DHT blockers). Neeraj specifically double-checked this because he wanted clarity: yes, the hair vitamin was once a day after breakfast.

This combination also subtly addresses what many people experience as the digestion and hair fall connection - when digestion and absorption aren’t supported, follicles don’t consistently receive what they need. Even when constipation wasn’t a regular issue for him, the coach still nudged him toward hydration, home food, and less spicy outside meals - because internal stability is part of long-term hair quality.

Living with the plan when life doesn’t stay still

Neeraj’s reality was travel. He knew he might leave India in a couple months. So he asked directly if kits could be delivered internationally, or if he could pre-order.

He was told he could bulk order - simple, but important. It meant the plan didn’t have to break just because his location changed.

He also asked if he could do parts of the routine at night. The coach advised sticking to the doctor-suggested schedule because spacing and consistency matter. And then she said something that often becomes the real make-or-break line for progress: it takes “a little sacrifice” in the beginning, but it’s only a few minutes morning and night.

Resolution: what Neeraj is really working toward

Neeraj didn’t come to Traya because of a one-week scare. He came because thinning had quietly taken over his hair story.

By the end of the call, his biggest doubts had softened. He understood why shedding could happen, what each product was meant to do, and what timeline to hold on to - especially around crown improvement and hairline maintenance.

Most importantly, he wasn’t doing it alone anymore. He had a routine, app-based tracking, and a way to reach support when needed - built for the long journey his hair had been asking for.
