Neeraj’s 8-Month Plan to Beat Dandruff & Hair Fall

Traya Journey at a Glance

  • Main concern: Hair fall for 4–5 years that recently started increasing, along with sticky, heavy dandruff that “just won’t go.”
  • What seemed to be driving it: Scalp health disruption from long-standing dandruff, plus ongoing thinning and a receding hairline.
  • What he used: Anti-dandruff Night Lotion (ketoconazole 2%), Scalp Oil (with a booster shot mixed in), plus Hair Ras, Health Tatva, and Hair Vitamins; later, a planned switch to Minoxidil serum once dandruff is controlled.
  • Timeline he was prepared for: Dandruff/scalp focus in the first 1–3 months, hair fall control around months 4–6, and visible regrowth and density improvements around months 7–8.
  • Outcome he was aiming for: “Jo loss ho chuka hai, vo fir se vapas aa jae” - regrowth, hair fall control, and dandruff relief, with realistic expectations around hairline maintenance.

He didn’t start with a dramatic bald patch story. It started with something more exhausting: time.

When Neeraj, a working professional from Indore, said his hair fall had been going on for “four to five years”, you could hear the patience wearing thin. It had been gradual at first, then suddenly felt like it “started increasing” - the kind of shift that makes you stop brushing your hair casually and start watching it.

And then there was the other problem that wouldn’t leave him alone: sticky, heavy dandruff. “It’s not going,” he said, like he’d been negotiating with his scalp for months.

When “just oil” didn’t work anymore

Neeraj hadn’t tried medical treatment before. Like many people, he experimented with what was easily available - he mentioned using adivasi oil in between, hoping it would do something. It didn’t.

That’s often the frustrating part: oils can feel like effort, but when the underlying scalp environment is inflamed or imbalanced, you may not see meaningful change. Neeraj’s ask was simple and honest: he wanted what he’d lost to come back. “Regrowth,” he said clearly. And along with it, control - over hair fall and dandruff.

The real issue: scalp health before regrowth

When a Traya hair coach reviewed Neeraj’s concerns, the direction was immediate: dandruff first.

Because dandruff and dry scalp hair loss is not just about flakes on a black t-shirt. Persistent dandruff often comes with itch, irritation, and scalp buildup that can disturb the scalp’s overall health. If the scalp isn’t calm and clean, applying a growth serum too early can be like planting seeds in soil that hasn’t been cleared.

That’s why Neeraj’s plan didn’t jump straight to a hair growth serum. The coach explained they would “counter it first, then switch to serum” - a sequence designed to protect results, not delay them.

Q: Does dandruff trigger hair loss?

Yes - especially when it’s heavy and persistent. Dandruff can lead to itching, inflammation, and scalp buildup, and constant irritation can worsen shedding and make it harder for hair to grow well until scalp health is restored.

The moment he asked what everyone thinks (but rarely says)

Neeraj’s biggest doubt wasn’t about steps. It was about time.

He asked, in his own words, whether during the 5–8 month journey he would see nothing: “So for five to eight months… I won’t see any growth symptoms?”

It’s a vulnerable question because it carries a fear: What if I do all of this and still feel stuck?

The coach clarified gently that it’s not “no change for months.” Instead, it’s step-by-step change. The first phase is about getting dandruff and internal scalp health under control, then moving toward hair fall control, and finally visible improvements in density and regrowth.

A realistic timeline (that still felt hopeful)

Neeraj was told clearly what to expect:
In the first 1–3 months, the focus would be on dandruff and scalp health. From months 4–6, hair fall control becomes more noticeable. And from months 7–8 onward, visible changes like regrowth and better volume and density start showing gradually.

Even his hairline concern was handled honestly. Neeraj mentioned his hairline was going back “a bit.” The coach set expectations: hairline improvement is seen in some cases, but the goal is often to manage and maintain, and prevent further damage - especially where the scalp has become more bare.

That honesty matters. It’s the foundation of a personalized hair treatment plan that someone can actually stick to.

What his routine looked like in real life

The coach didn’t just list products. He walked Neeraj through how it would fit into his week.

Neeraj’s kit routine included:

He used Anti-dandruff Night Lotion on the scalp at night, three times a week (alternate days). This lotion contains ketoconazole 2%, which helps reduce dandruff by acting against the fungus responsible for it and soothing associated scalp inflammation.

The next morning, over the night lotion, he applied Traya Scalp Oil, kept it on for at least 30 minutes, and washed it off. Traya’s Scalp Oil is an Ayurvedic oil blend made with a sneh pak process (medicated oil preparation) and is designed to nourish the scalp and support follicular nourishment with regular massage (Shiroabhyanga), which also helps improve blood circulation.

He also received a small booster bottle (oil shot) to mix into the main oil at once, and apply the oil twice a week.

Alongside topical care, he had internal support:
He took Hair Ras (2 tablets morning and 2 at night, after meals), Health Tatva (1 tablet morning and 1 at night, after meals), and Hair Vitamins (1 tablet after breakfast).

Hair Ras is positioned as daily natural hair nourishment - supporting scalp and hair health by balancing pitta dosha and supporting nourishment of asthi dhatu. Health Tatva supports digestion and absorption, which matters because nutrient absorption is a real part of the digestion and hair fall connection.

And because stress and sleep can quietly affect hair health, Neeraj also had Nasal Ghrit: three drops in each nostril before sleeping, for 21 days only, as guided.

The turning point: switching to growth serum, but only when ready

Neeraj was told that once dandruff is controlled, the doctor may switch him to a Minoxidil serum. This step matters because minoxidil is used to support hair regrowth by improving nutrient-rich blood flow to hair follicles through a vasodilation effect. But applying it on an irritated, dandruff-heavy scalp may not be the smartest first move - so his plan was built to time it right.

Resolution: not a miracle promise, but a plan he could trust

By the end of the call, Neeraj sounded calmer - not because he’d been promised instant regrowth, but because someone finally mapped the road ahead.

He knew what came first. He knew what could change and what needed maintenance. He knew how often to apply what, and when they would check his progress and adjust.

He even committed to starting right away: he planned to begin from Monday.

For someone who’s watched hair fall for years, that decision is not small. It’s the moment hope becomes routine.
