He Wanted a Healthy Scalp, Not a Hair Fall Fix

Traya Journey at a Glance

  • Key problem: Heavy dandruff with itching that triggered irritation and scratch-related rashes, especially near the forehead hairline
  • Root causes/context: Recurring dandruff that kept coming back after short, stop-start use of anti-dandruff shampoo; worry about dandruff affecting the hairline and long-term hair health
  • What he used: Anti-dandruff Shampoo (Ketoconazole 2%), Anti-dandruff night lotion (Ketoconazole 2%), Scalp Oil with Growth Therapy booster oil, and Hair Ras for daily nourishment
  • Timeline shared by the coach: First two months focused on dandruff + internal health; months three to four for better scalp health; visible hair quality improvements expected around month five with consistency
  • Outcome/shift: A clear, doable routine that felt “protective” - built to calm the scalp first, then maintain healthier hair over time

“I don’t have any hair fall right now,” Neeraj said quickly, almost as if he wanted to clear that up before anything else. Then he added the real reason he’d reached out: “I have dandruff way too much.”

It wasn’t just flakes. It was the kind of dandruff that shows up right at the front - “in between my forehead and hair” - and gets worse the moment you scratch. “When I’m itching it… it gives rashes,” he explained, describing how the irritation flared up and only settled after the scratching stopped.

Neeraj’s goal was simple and deeply relatable: cure the dandruff properly and “put my hair in a healthy scalp.” His hair, he said, was “not that dense,” so he wasn’t trying to fix a dramatic hair loss problem - he was trying to protect what he had.

When dandruff becomes the main worry

Neeraj had tried the standard approach before. Long back, a doctor had suggested an anti-dandruff shampoo (he referred to it as ketoconazole). It worked - briefly. “I normally use for a week or two… and once I stop using it, it will come back again.”

That stop-start loop created a specific kind of frustration: you’re doing something “right,” but the relief doesn’t last. Over time, it starts to feel like dandruff isn’t just a scalp issue - it’s a threat to your hairline, your confidence, and your daily comfort.

And for Neeraj, the fear was very clear: “If it is affecting my hairline… I wanted to start the treatment so that it doesn’t harm my hairline.”

What was really driving the flare-ups

In Neeraj’s case, the story wasn’t about sudden shedding. It was about recurrence and inflammation. Heavy dandruff is often not “one-and-done” - especially when treatment is used for a short burst and stopped the moment things look better. That’s exactly what Neeraj described: he’d use the shampoo a couple of times a week, but only for a week or two, then discontinue it.

Traya’s coach explained the focus would be dandruff first, because dandruff can trigger hair fall - especially when itching leads to repeated scratching, irritation, and a stressed scalp environment. This is where dandruff and dry scalp hair loss becomes a real concern: not because dandruff magically causes baldness overnight, but because an inflamed, itchy scalp can weaken the foundation your hair needs to stay resilient.

Q: Does dandruff trigger hair loss?

Yes - dandruff can contribute to hair fall when it leads to persistent itching, scalp irritation, and scratching. When the scalp is inflamed or repeatedly disturbed, hair can shed more easily, which is why controlling dandruff is often the first priority.

The doubt he didn’t hesitate to ask

Neeraj had already researched. He didn’t just follow instructions blindly, and that honesty became the turning point in the call.

He asked about oiling, because he’d heard that a greasy scalp can worsen dandruff: “People were saying that if the scalp is wet or greasy, then the dandruff increasing… chances will be more.”

Instead of dismissing the concern, the coach aligned with it and gave a clear boundary: oil is fine, but timing matters. The guidance was to apply oil only about half an hour before a hair wash, and not leave it on longer - because prolonged oiling could make dandruff harder to control for him.

He also asked whether food habits increase dandruff. He wanted to know what else could be unknowingly fueling the flakes. While the coach clarified that dandruff doesn’t depend on food, they did reinforce that food habits do matter for overall hair health - especially if Neeraj’s larger goal was protection and better hair quality through a personalized hair treatment plan.

What the coach built for him: a routine that fits real life

Neeraj didn’t even have the kit in front of him during the call, but he was ready with a “I’ll note it down.” The coach made it practical and repeatable - less like a strict regimen, more like a rhythm.

The core dandruff-control plan included two medicated essentials:
The Anti-dandruff Night Lotion (Ketoconazole 2%) was advised three nights a week, left on overnight and applied across the scalp, including the hairline area. The next morning, the Anti-dandruff Shampoo (Ketoconazole 2%) was to be used, leaving it on the scalp for one to two minutes so the medicated ingredient can work on dandruff and scalp build-up.

To support overall hair nourishment (since Neeraj repeatedly mentioned his hair isn’t very dense and he wants to protect it), the coach also guided him on Hair Ras, an Ayurvedic daily nourishment tablet. As per the plan shared on the call, he was advised to take two after breakfast and two after dinner. Hair Ras is positioned as “Chyawanprash for the hair,” supporting scalp and hair health by balancing pitta dosha, improving blood circulation to follicles, and nourishing Asthi Dhatu.

Finally, for scalp nourishment without worsening dandruff, the coach included Scalp Oil along with the Growth Therapy booster oil, mixed together and used only twice a week, about half an hour before hair wash.

The coach also addressed the real-life problem that breaks most routines: forgetting. The tip was simple - keep the night lotion where you wind down at night, and keep supplements where you eat, so the environment reminds you. Consistency, not intensity, was framed as the real “secret.”

Resolution: choosing prevention before panic

Neeraj started the call by drawing a boundary: no hair fall, just dandruff. By the end, he had something more valuable than a quick fix - a structured plan to control dandruff first and protect hair health before things worsened.

He sounded relieved when everything finally felt clear: “I am clear with it and I will try to follow it as possible.”

Sometimes the win isn’t a dramatic before-after photo. Sometimes it’s catching the problem early, getting the right guidance, and committing to a routine that’s built for real life - especially when your goal is to keep your scalp calm and your hairline safe.
