Asha’s Dandruff-First Plan for Hair Widening

Traya Journey at a Glance

  • Problem: Persistent dandruff with “side widening” and worry about worsening hair fall.
  • Root causes addressed: Dandruff-related scalp irritation and the fear of initial shedding when starting minoxidil.
  • What she used: Anti-dandruff shampoo + anti-dandruff night lotion, scalp oil mixed with a booster shot, plus supplements like Health Tatva, Hair Vitamin, and Her Santulan; minoxidil planned from month 2.
  • Timeline: Dandruff-focused routine started immediately; Nasal Ghrit course for 21 days; minoxidil introduced in the second month.
  • Outcome: A clearer, simpler routine she could follow confidently - without panic about temporary shedding - supported by 15-day check-ins.

“I’ll start today.” That was Asha’s line in the middle of a slightly hectic call - equal parts determined and cautious. She wasn’t calling to debate options. She was calling because she didn’t want to make a mistake with her kit, especially when her scalp was already struggling and her hair parting seemed to be widening.

This was less about buying products and more about needing someone to say, calmly, “Do this first. Then this. And here’s what to expect.”

When dandruff becomes more than “just dandruff”

Asha’s kit arrived with multiple products, and her first priority was clear: her dandruff felt “heavy,” and she wanted to fix that before anything else.

Her coach anchored the first month around scalp recovery: using the Anti-dandruff Night Lotion (the pink bottle) all over the scalp and leaving it overnight, three times a week. The next morning, she’d apply Traya Scalp Oil - mixed fully with the booster shot - 30 minutes before washing her hair with the Anti-dandruff Shampoo (Ketoconazole 2%).

Even in the way she asked questions, you could hear the worry behind the logistics. She repeated instructions back to confirm, like she was trying to protect herself from the uncertainty that hair loss creates: “So tonight I’ll apply it on the full scalp and keep it overnight… right?”

That need for certainty got even louder when the conversation moved to the next phase: minoxidil.

What was likely driving her concern

Two things stood out in Asha’s call: dandruff as an active scalp issue, and “side widening” as the visible hair concern she was bracing herself to treat.

When dandruff is left unchecked, it can trigger itching, flaking, and scalp inflammation. That irritation can make hair shedding feel worse - especially when the scalp is already uncomfortable. This is exactly why her plan didn’t rush into minoxidil immediately. The coach explicitly told her to keep minoxidil aside for the first month because they needed to “work on heavy dandruff” first.

That sequencing matters in dandruff and dry scalp hair loss: calm the scalp, reduce fungal dandruff, and then move to growth actives with more confidence and comfort.

Q: Does dandruff trigger hair loss?

Yes - when dandruff causes itching and inflammation, the scalp environment becomes unhealthy, and hair can shed more easily. That’s why a medicated anti-dandruff routine is often the first step before focusing on regrowth.

The moment she voiced what so many people fear

Asha didn’t sound scared of applying products. She sounded scared of losing more hair.

When minoxidil came up, she immediately checked: “If hair fall increases a lot, that’s a problem, right?” Her coach explained what many people aren’t told upfront: when minoxidil begins working, hair fall can temporarily increase for a few weeks because weaker strands shed first. She was told not to panic and not to stop.

That reassurance wasn’t casual; it was the turning point. The fear of “something getting worse” is exactly what makes people quit early - right before results begin.

How the plan became doable: a routine that didn’t overwhelm her

Asha’s plan was made practical, not perfect. Her coach broke it into a rhythm she could actually follow:

She started with the anti-dandruff night lotion three times a week, applied all over the scalp and left overnight. In the morning, she used scalp oil (green box) mixed with the booster shot, 30 minutes before washing. Then she washed with the anti-dandruff shampoo, and followed with conditioner only on hair lengths - not the scalp. The Defence Shampoo was intentionally kept for later, after dandruff reduced.

For sleep support, she was asked to use Nasal Ghrit (yellow bottle) before sleeping - two to three drops in each nostril - for 21 days. (She was also guided on how to warm the bottle in warm water if it had thickened.)

And internally, the support was layered: Health Tatva twice a day, Hair Vitamin after breakfast (or lunch if she skips breakfast), and Her Santulan as prescribed (two tablets in the morning and two at night, after meals). Together, these were positioned as a personalized hair treatment plan - something that didn’t just “coat” the scalp, but supported the body too.

She was also reminded she didn’t have to memorize everything: the Traya app would show daily and weekly doses, and she’d get check-ins every 15 days.

Why these products fit her situation

Asha’s first month focused on clearing dandruff and stabilizing the scalp.

The Anti-dandruff Shampoo contains Ketoconazole 2%, which helps reduce dandruff caused by fungal growth and supports scalp comfort by reducing itching and inflammation. The Anti-dandruff Night Lotion also contains Ketoconazole 2% w/v and is designed for stubborn, heavy dandruff that clings to the scalp - exactly why it’s left on overnight.

Her Scalp Oil routine leaned on the Ayurvedic idea of shiroabhyanga - oil massage to calm the mind and support circulation to hair follicles - while the booster shot was mixed in for added targeted support as per her kit.

From month two, minoxidil was planned specifically on the visible area where she noticed “side widening.” For women, Traya’s Minoxidil 2% with Procapil 3% is positioned for pattern hair loss and thinning, supporting blood flow to follicles to regrow thicker hair.

Resolution: not just a kit, but a calm

By the end of the call, Asha had moved from confusion to clarity. She confirmed the key boundaries - conditioner only on lengths, minoxidil from next month, and dandruff treatment first. And she left with the one thing most people actually need at the start of hair treatment: a realistic expectation that consistency beats panic.

Her last hope sounded simple, but it carried weight: she just wanted “good results.” What she got right away was better than motivation - she got a plan she trusted.
