5 Day Detox Challenge for Hair Growth

At Traya, we believe that good hair comes from good health. Your internal health influences the rate, speed and quality of your hair. Hair loss is a lifestyle disorder and is affected by improper eating habits, sleep patterns, high stress and poor gut health. Fixing these factors individually will bring about a holistic change in your hair loss journey.
While a major lifestyle change sounds like an uphill task for someone who is always on the go, a detox is like the easiest and quickest way to test waters and get the maximum benefit. A detox when done right can aid your gut health and give your energy a boost. Along with that, it cleanses your digestive tract, boosts immunity, helps you sleep better and leaves you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated!
Now that you’re convinced, let’s get started on our 5 Day Detox Journey.
DAY 1- NO CAFFEINE
Replace your cup of tea or coffee with Traya’s unique herbal drink.
Ingredients:
- 2-3 inches of lemongrass stems, chopped
- Cinnamon sticks, 2 inches
- 6 green cardamom buds
- 1⁄2 inch coin ginger
- 2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon jaggery (optional)
Substitute rosemary, curry leaves, tulsi or rose instead of lemon grass.
Why No Caffeine?
Caffeine is a digestive irritant. According to Ayurveda, fatigue, bloating, drop in energy, hormonal imbalances or skin and hair disorders are attributed to poor digestion. It recommends consuming certain herbs with detoxifying properties to help flush toxins and maintain gut health.
DAY 2- DETOX YOGA FLOW
Start your morning with a 20 minutes yoga flow accompanied with an energizing breathing exercise.

How Does Yoga Help?
Yoga asanas stimulate the lymphatic system and improve blood circulation by bending, twisting, folding and inverting the body. Metabolic waste gets delivered to the liver, kidneys and digestive organs through both the lymph and blood. This is why yoga asanas are effective in removing toxins from the body and leaving you energized and relaxed.
DAY 3- NO SUGAR DAY
Replace sugar with dates, maple syrup or organic honey.
Why No Sugar?
Simply because sugar impacts your immune functioning. Studies indicate that sugar can interfere with the way your body fights disease and leads to build up infection causing bacteria. Moreover, it elevates stress levels in the body and accelerates the aging process. A high intake of sugar is associated with a trade-off with essential nutrients especially vitamins A, C, B-12, and calcium that are essential for hair and skin.
DAY 4- DRINK 4 LTR. WATER
Increase fluid intake throughout the day.
Try this recipe of clean carrot juice. You will love the tangy combination of oranges, carrots, ginger and some papaya to sweeten the deal.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups chopped carrots
- 3 cups chopped papaya
- 2 oranges
- 1 coin ginger
Substitution: You can replace oranges with kiwi
Method: Simply juice all the ingredients together and serve.
How Do Fluids Help?
Increasing your fluid intake during detox as it helps with addiction recovery, yes sugar is addictive folks! Water flushes the body of toxins through the urinary and digestive tract, sweating and perspiration. Not just water, but swapping with various fluids is particularly important as the electrolytes present in them bring the body back to a balanced state.
DAY 5- INTERMITTENT FASTING
Eat only after sunrise and before sunset i.e. after 6 am and before 6 pm.
It is also called circadian fasting wherein you time your meals to align with your body’s internal clock. As your body’s metabolism works differently throughout the day, the idea is to work with your body by choosing regular periods to eat and fast.
Method:
- 16/8 fasting: eating for eight hours and fasting for 16 is relatively easier for most people and sustainable over a long period of time.
- 5:2 approach: eating regularly five days of the week. And for the rest, limiting yourself to one 500–600 calorie meal.
Tip:
During the times when you’re not eating, water and zero-calorie beverages such as herbal drinks or tea are permitted.
Why Intermittent Fasting?
It has been documented that what we eat and when we eat influences our weight, blood pressure, endurance, and overall health. It is also said to benefit those trying to lose weight and are prone to lifestyle related diseases.
Voila! You’ve made it through 5 days of detox. Now it is up to you to integrate this in your everyday life.
